Author's Guidelines

 

  • Papers for consideration should be sent to the Editor at office@africareview.in or africareview@gmail.com
  • Editorial correspondence may be emailed or sent to:

  • Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts electronically. Electronic submissions should be sent as email attachments using a standard word processing program. If email submission is not possible, please send an electronic version on CD.
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in electronic format, preferably in Microsoft Word. The main text should be in Times New Roman, font 12, 1.5 spacing.
  • Papers are accepted only in English. British English spelling and punctuation is preferred. Please use single quotation marks, except where ‘a quotation is “within” a quotation’.
  • Articles should be between 6,000–7,000 words – main text only. Papers that greatly exceed this will be critically reviewed with respect to length. Authors should include a word count with their manuscript.
  • Manuscripts should be compiled in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text; acknowledgments; appendixes (as appropriate); references; table(s) and figure(s) with caption(s) (on individual pages); also figure caption(s) - as a list.
  • Abstracts of 150–200 words are required for all papers submitted.
  • Each paper should have up to 6 keywords.
  • Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a means of making your article more visible to anyone who might be looking for it. Please consult our guidance.
  • Section and subsection headings should be concise.
  • All the authors of a paper should include their full names, affiliations, postal addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses on the cover page of the manuscript. One author should be identified as the corresponding author. The affiliations of all named co-authors should be the affiliation where the research was conducted. If any of the named co-authors moves affiliation during the peer review process, the new affiliation can be given as a footnote. Please note that no changes to affiliation can be made after the article is accepted.
  • Please supply a short biographical note for each author.
  • Book Reviews must contain the name of the author, title of the book reviewed, place of publication, name of publisher, year of publication, and the number of pages. The name of the reviewer and full particulars of his/her affiliation should appear at the end of the text and the review should be between 1,000–2,000 words.
  • For all manuscripts non-discriminatory language is mandatory. Sexist or racist terms should not be used.
  • Authors must adhere to SI units. Units are not italicised.
  • When using a word which is, or is asserted to be, a proprietary term or trade mark, authors must use the symbol ® or TM.

  • Copyright and Authors’ Rights: It is a condition of publication that all contributing authors grant to the African Studies Association of India the necessary rights to the copyright in all articles submitted to the Journal, which is published for the African Studies Association of India by Taylor & Francis. Authors are required to sign an Article Publishing Agreement to facilitate this. This will ensure the widest dissemination and protection against copyright infringement of articles. The “article” is defined as comprising the final, definitive, and citable Version of Scholarly Record, and includes: (a) the accepted manuscript in its final and revised form, including the text, abstract, and all accompanying tables, illustrations, data; and (b) any supplemental material.
